To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless WACRRA and its directors, officers, board members, employees, volunteers, agents, and affiliated organizations from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorney’s fees) arising out of or related to the volunteer’s negligent or intentional acts or omissions, breach of this Agreement, or failure to follow WACRRA policies or instructions except to the extent caused by WACRRA’s gross negligence, willful misconduct, or where such release is prohibited by law.

If working directly with WACRRA's animals, do you acknowledge that retired research animals may require time, patience, and socialization to acclimate to life outside their safe research environment? Every animal adjusts at its own pace and some may need extra time before they start to feel comfortable.

Do you understand that animals are unpredictable and may bite, scratch, kick, escape, damage property or otherwise cause injury or harm, even if they have no known history of aggressive or fearful behavior? WACRRA does not guarantee the temperament, health, or behavior of any animal. As a volunteer, you accept these risks ad agree to exercise reasonable care while handling or working around animals.

Do you understand that WACRRA does not provide health insurance, workers’ compensation coverage for volunteers, or insurance for personal property? The volunteer assumes responsibility for any loss of or damage to personal property brought to volunteer activities.

Have you or anyone in your household ever been (i) charged with, or convicted of, animal cruelty, neglect, or abandonment, (ii) the subject of a civil proceeding to terminate your ownership rights of a dog, cat, or other companion animal, (iii) ever surrendered an animal to, or had an animal seized by an animal control officer?

Their release is part of a responsible retirement and rehoming program.
